July 2008 - “A Home away from Home”

Some of you have seen the old, unsafe, and overcrowded dormitory at Xie Qiao primary school near Rooster Mountain.  Holes in the roof, roughly cut wooden planks for beds, a tree trunk that stands in the middle of the girls section holding up the roof, and 39 boys crammed into a hotel sized room.

In this and other areas of Henan Province, students walk more than 2 hours to get to school each day.  And while almost 70 students live at this decaying, decrepit dormitory, the need for a new structure is urgent for fear of a roof collapse.

Local government officials and CSV are working together to provide a new dormitory that will house 180 students and provide washing facilities, bunk beds, and much needed safety.  Are you or your congregation capable of helping us build a new dormitory?   Join CSV to help provide a new “Home away from Home” for students at Xie Qiao school.
