Development

Many who think of China think of the big cities and the booming economies of Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.  They do not have the opportunity to see and hear the stories from those who live "off the beaten path."  It is from these areas, from these people, that many of the New Sounds are emerging.  It is these areas, for these people, that we are looking to serve.

Dorms

For many of the children of Henan, attending school brings multiple challenges.  Not only are there costly school fees, but for some, there is a distance to travel - often several hours of walking, one-way.

The children who live the furthest from school are sometimes offered the opportunity to stay in one of the school's dorms.  These dorms are often in poor repair (note the pole holding up the roof in the top picture), require multiple children sleep in a single bed, and have little or no electricity.

China Service Ventures partnered with one school to split the funding for and built a new dorm - one that is clean, sturdy, and will help to better position the students for success.

There are many other schools and children in need of new, safe, clean dorms.

Will you join us in making a difference in their lives?

 Rooster Mountain

The roots of China Service Ventures can be found on a mountain, Rooster Mountain.  During the hot summers, Lutheran Missionaries would escape to the mountain where they had homes, a special school, and a church.

When the Communists came to power, property ownership was taken away.  In recent years, the government has begun to allow the purchase or lease of some property.  China Service Ventures has the dream of re-acquiring property to establish a summer camp and community center.

An initial lease has been signed and things are looking favorable for additional property acquisition.

Would you like to be involved with the rennovations of the properties, the planning for the camps, or serve as a volunteer?  Contact Kelly O'Brien at China Service Ventures headquarters.

We welcome your financial support to help get this effort off the ground!

Water Wells

For the past several years, Central China has been experiencing a period of significant drought.  For many who live in Henan, in Hudien Township, running water is not a luxury that they can afford.  They depend on the water that they are able to draw from wells to sustain them.  Because of the droughts many, like the one pictured at the right, are drying up.

To ensure that the wells never again run out of water, China Service Ventures is working to find and partner with companies who can drill through the rock and below the water tables.  Will you help us provide water that will never end?
