2011 JIGONGSHAN SUMMER YOUTH CAMPS

We are excited to share the many things that student campers experience during                         their stay at the Jigongshan Summer Youth Camps. We are also very grateful to                          our partners: Camp Wapo and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong                                 Kong (ELCHK).

The Youth Camp Mission: To provide Chinese and American youth

experiences that strengthen service in society.

There are limits in what we can say and do publicly, yet opportunities abound for sharing. During this time, we seek to raise up values and character traits that can help rural poor Chinese youth in their search for life direction. We hope to share love, attention, and care for youth in need.  Most of the camp participants are impoverished students from the Bo Ai (Boundless Love) Program.

Our long term vision for the camps includes identifying and developing young leaders who will one day lead youth camp work in China, and attend to rural poor youth and stay-behind children, which is a growing part of CSV’s work. We hope to prepare these students for a future where young Chinese Christian leaders are trained to carry on the ministry.

The daily camp schedule is much like a camp schedule in the U.S.  Scheduling includes time for meals, team building activities, large group games, small group discussions about values and culture, a campfire and songs.  Special activities include hikes and crafts.
